The Summer of DIY Begins

I recently picked up a 1960's laminated side table in a pale woodgrain from Goodwill. It was in pretty fair condition for its age and for only $6, I couldn't resist. The creative possibilities were endless. So I picked up some Krylon primer and spray paint in a jet black and went to town. This is best to do outdoors on a sunny, but not scorching, day with low winds. Remove all hardware and separate the pieces (such as a drawer) before beginning. Be sure to wait 1 minute between each thin coat, holding the can 6-8 inches from the project surface in order to avoid drips. Because spray paint dries fairly quickly you can most likely have your project back in the house by the end of the night (assuming your nose doesn't mind some paint fumes!) Add some fresh or freshly painted hardware, a lamp, some books and your nightstand is ready for action. I don't have a before photo, but here is the finished product.
